Smoked Gouda Grits

Ingredients:

4 T butter

1/4 onion finely minced

2 cloves garlic finely minced

1c yellow grits

1/2c cream

2 1/2c chicken broth

1c water

1/2c smoked Gouda

Salt & pepper, to taste


Instructions:

1. Sauté onion in 2 T butter til lightly browned, add in garlic.

2. Add in 3c broth & then grits, salt and pepper once water is boiling.

3. Stir & cover, simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4. Add in cream, cheese, & butter.

5. Cover & cook for 10 more minutes, season to taste.

You want your grits to be thick & creamy—think mashed potatoes!
